There’s something for everyone: Casual hikers can enjoy the stunning natural beauty of the European Long-Distance Hiking Trail or the Lech Trail, while high-alpine hikers will truly delight in the section of the Adler Trail that runs through the Lechtal Nature Park region! A trip to one of the many alpine pastures and huts is an unforgettable vacation experience for families, as a delicious snack awaits as a reward for their efforts, in addition to the beautiful views.
ALPINE PASTURES & HUTS
If you enjoy going for a hike every now and then, you'll love our more than 50 mountain huts and alpine pastures be absolutely thrilled. From rustic alpine huts to modern restaurants, you can find it all here.
Tradition and customs are still highly valued everywhere. So if you’re lucky, you’ll see the mountain farmers harvesting hay or bringing it home. Breathe in the scent of freshly mowed meadows or rain-soaked fields. These are experiences that can’t be offered or sent—they can only be “lived.”

CLIMBING
The Lech Valley offers everything from easy climbing routes for beginners to routes that require the utmost concentration and advanced skills. Professional guides are, of course, on hand to offer advice and assistance!
Our highlight: the via ferrata at the Simms Waterfall in Holzgau: You cross the roaring waterfall. A great via ferrata adventure, even for kids, that you can easily combine with a visit to the 200-meter-long suspension bridge on the way down!
RAFTING / CANYONING
Get closer to the Lech than ever before on an adventurous rafting tour down the last wild stretch of the river.

TENNIS
Tennis enthusiasts are welcome to visit the perfectly restored Redcourt courts at the Oberlechtal tennis complex in Elbigenalp. We’d be happy to make a court reservation for you.
Geierwally Stage
Built right into the striking cliffs of the Elbigenalp Bernhardstal Gorge, the impressive setting of the Geierwally Open-Air Theater draws numerous visitors to Elbigenalp year after year during the summer months of July and August.
Summer toboggan run
A special highlight for young and old alike is the “Wally Blitz” summer toboggan run in Elbigenalp. With 25 turns, one steep curve, and a tunnel, riders can reach speeds of up to 40 km/h on the 900-meter-long track.
Elbigenalper Chamber of Curiosities
If you're visiting Elbigenalp, you definitely shouldn't miss the Elbigenalp Wunderkammer. Here, you can learn about the culture and history of the people of the Lechtal from the perspective of collector and lithographer Johann Anton Falger.
Family Feud
Since 2005, the Lechtaler Distillery in Elbigenalp has been dedicated to the art of producing high-quality brandies and liqueurs. Demonstration distillery – Shop – Guided tours including tastings
Holzgau Suspension Bridge
A top attraction in the Lech Valley is Austria’s longest pedestrian suspension bridge: It is 200 m long and 100 m high and spans the wild and romantic Höhenbach Valley Gorge. Nearby are magnificent hiking trails on the sunny slopes of Gföllberg, Schiggenberg, and Simmswasserfall.
Ehrenberg Ruins
One of Central Europe’s most significant fortress complexes: the Ehrenberg Castle ruins, including the Schlosskopf Fortress, the Ehrenberger Klause, and Fort Claudia in Reute. Features an interactive museum and a nature park exhibition titled “The Last Wild One.” A major medieval festival takes place in July, featuring jousting tournaments.
Sojer Natural Cheese Dairy
The Sojer family’s cheese dairy in Steeg is now the only one in the entire Lech Valley. Since 1903, top-quality milk from alpine pastures rich in herbs and flowers (1,500–2,500 m above sea level) has been processed by hand here using traditional methods. The small shop and the milk bar with its terrace are definitely worth a visit!
Nature Park Visitor Center in Elmen
The Nature Park Center, located on the Klimm Bridge, is a welcome and informative stop for cyclists and hikers. From the middle of the bridge near Elmen, you have a wonderful view of the wide riverbed of the Lech, arguably the last untamed wild river in the Northern Alps. The building serves as the headquarters of the nature park administration and provides visitors with information about the distinctive features as well as the rare animals and plants of this unique natural landscape. For children, there’s a great nature park playground right next door.
